Getting Started
LeakGuard installs directly from the Stripe Marketplace with one click — Stripe handles OAuth authorization, and there is no separate LeakGuard account or configuration file setup. Within five minutes you will have a live dashboard showing fee rates, refund trends, and cost hotspots for your Stripe account, all powered by read-only access with no card required for the Starter plan.
LeakGuard is distributed through the Stripe Marketplace — Stripe handles OAuth authorization for your account, so there is no separate LeakGuard account or extra configuration required.
When you open LeakGuard for the first time, a short onboarding flow configures your view. You can change any setting later in Settings → App Configuration.
Step A — Primary Goal
Choose what you care about most:
Step B — Default Date Range
Pick the window used across all views. Options: 30 days, 90 days, YTD, or Custom. You can change the range on any view at any time using the date range selector.
Step C — Segment Metadata Key (optional)
If your Stripe charges include a consistent metadata key (e.g. plan or product), enter it here. LeakGuard uses this to break down your fees by segment. You can skip this and set it later in Settings.
After onboarding, you land on the main LeakGuard dashboard. Here's what you're looking at:
KPI Tiles
Three headline numbers at the top: Gross Volume, Total Fees, and Net Revenue. Each shows the current period value plus the change versus the prior period.
Rate Trends
A chart showing your Effective Fee Rate and Refund Rate over time. Rising lines indicate growing cost pressure — open the chart to see the full trend view.
Cost Hotspots
A ranked list of your biggest leakage sources, sorted by dollar impact. Each hotspot links to a pre-filtered evidence view showing the underlying transactions.
Smart Insights
Rule-based observations about your data — concentration anomalies, velocity warnings, optimization opportunities. Each insight has a confidence level (high/medium/low).
Tab navigation
Tabs across the top switch between Dashboard, Refunds, Disputes, and Monthly Close. All tabs share the same date range selection.
